Joining the Parish Council

Outwoods Parish Council consists of Outwoods South and Outwoods North with a total of 11 seats.

Outwoods South has 3 seats - There is 1 vacancy.

Outwoods North has 8 seats - There are 2 vacancies.

In order to become a Parish Councillor, you need to be over 18 years of age and a British National or a qualifying citizen of the Commonwealth or the European Community.  You are not a paid employee of the Council as the law forbids it.  You are unable to act as a Councillor until you have signed a Declaration of Acceptance of Office which includes your agreement to observe the current code of conduct which has been adopted by Outwoods Parish Council and this would generally be signed at the first meeting following your intention to serve the Parish Council.

Expectations of a parish councillor are to attend meetings when summoned to do so, consider in advance of meetings items which are important to be discussed, council decisions will only be made by the full council or clerk acting under delegated authority, councillors and officers should observe reasonable standards of courtesy, confidentiality is often important and must be respected by councillors and officers, neither councillors nor employees should resort to the media to resolve a disagreement, declarations of any interest must be presented and is expected of councillors as a holder of public office to protect the reputation of the council.

With the Parish Council having vacancies (as detailed above) following the Election in 2015 (and every four years), the Parish Council may co-opt any interested parties in order to fill vacancies.
