Parish Council meeting 12 April Cancelled

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused but tonight’s Parish Council Meeting had to be cancelled at late notice. The UK has entered a period of official mourning following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. This has impacted on the legality of the meeting as the council has to allow three clear days notice of the business to be discussed. This had not happened as official days of mourning cannot be counted in the three clear days. The Council was only advised of this legality (by the National Association of Local Councils) this evening.

The meeting will be rescheduled and dates will be published both on the website and on noticeboards across the Parish.

Public Meeting – 15 July 2023

Our Outwoods residents meeting was well attended on the morning of 15 July 2023.

Outwoods Parish Councillors Bev Walker, Rachael Anderson, Colin Pratt, Howard Dolman and Chairman John Anderson attended.

The meeting was chaired by John Anderson who invited the room to bring up their issues within the Parish after an introduction.

Many issues were brought up which will become future Parish Council agenda items. Most items are actually ESBC or SCC issues but none of their councillors were present. Some issues will be dealt with by email away from meetings.

The meeting demonstrated the need for good communication with residents. All of our parish council meetings are open to the public so all residents are always welcome.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month – see the home page for details (NB there is no August meeting).

Remembrance Service Outwoods

Outwoods Parish Council’s Remembrance service, held on Wilson Way. We named Wilson Way after two Outwoods brothers that went to war and did not return. John and James Wilson were in their early 20’s and lived on Lower Outwoods Road.

July Meeting

Please note the July meeting will be held on 4th July. There will be no meeting on the second Monday of the month as per the normal schedule. The following meeting will be 12 September 2022. Please contact the clerk if you wish to discuss anything at all.

Remembrance Sunday Outwoods

We normally hold a small Remembrance event at Wilson Way on the Saturday before Remembrance Sunday. We named the road after John and James Wilson, two parishioners that lost their lives in WW1. Both were in their 20’s and lived on Lower Outwoods Rd. I laid the wreath at 10am this morning to keep our tradition going but due to lockdown there was no ceremony. Our councillors and residents can pay respects in their own time as part of their daily exercise during lockdown.

John Anderson (Parish Chairman).

Coronavirus – latest local figures

Staffordshire is currently at the Medium Alert on the Government’s new Local Covid-19 Alert Levels that includes Medium, High and Very High.

However, cases are still rising fast and we need to do everything we can to bring them down, protect the vulnerable and keep East Staffordshire open for business.

In our four areas of interest in Burton, cases are rising less steeply since we introduced our advice for people to limit meetings with other households indoors. We therefore plan to extend this advice for the whole of East Staffordshire, because it appears to have worked. Otherwise the borough remains under the laws that apply at Medium Alert.
